England and Bristol prop Kyle Sinckler was one of many big-name casualties when British & Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland named his 37-man squad to tour South Africa last week.

Kyle Sinckler, 28, who played 137 matches for Harlequins between 2011 and 2020 before switching to the Bristol Bears, couldn’t hide his emotions after describing what has been a “difficult week”.

The mainstay of the England front-row with 47 Tests to date to his name, Sinckler was one of 20 (perhaps more) players who had reason to feel aggrieved at being snubbed for the tour in July-August which will feature three Tests against the world champion Springboks.

Sinckler was knocked unconscious in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final against the Springboks in Yokohama, Japan and would’ve been itching to have another crack at the South African pack.
